USA TODAY TRAVEL just released an article about Ontario Resorts for Couples. The Beauview Cottage Resort was one of three that were written up in the article.

One Correction: we do not offer meals.

The cottages are self catering. They have kitchens with stove, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and all the pots and pans, dishes. Gas BBQ grill on the deck. And you don't have to cook. A number of restaurants are closeby.

Teenager Grossed Out by Skinny Dipper on Lake of Bays

After the rain storm passed last night, it was a great time for a kayak ride before dark. Dave and his family went out past Langmaids Island and into Whiskey bay. They saw no other boats or people around until they came around a corner and saw a swimmer. The swimmer saw them just as he was getting out of the water. (sans bathing suit)

Gross! was the teen's reaction.

I should note that one of the perks of staying at a cottage is that you can swim naked if you choose. For some its a right. And no one will call the cops!

Two Gords Scaled the Iceberg

Here's Gord assisted by his daughters scaling the Beauview Iceberg. They also helped me (Gord) get up it and down the slide for the first time this summer! (Previously, I was only able to get part way and then would fall over!)

Learning to fish

This is a photo taken this morning at our Private 4 bedroom cottage on Fawn Lake.

Alexander the Fisherman

Alexander and his family stayed with us this past week. He got the record for the most fish caught in a week. In addition to lots of frogs and grasshoppers, he caught 17 bass off the dock. Don't worry - he 's a catch and release kind of guy so he threw them back for others to catch.

Alexander would walk onto the dock and put his line in the water and within a few minutes catch a fish. While others had been fishing for more than an hour and still hadn't caught anything. People would stand right beside him and not catch anything.

Alexander's secret ? He uses his little sister's Barbie Rod and Reel. He doesn't care that its a girl's rod because he catches fish.

BINGO - A Favourite Tradition

Nancy has lead our Bingo games every year since we started at Beauview in 1993.

It started off as Smarties BINGO just for kids and now it has developed into BINGO for everyone. We even attended the BINGO School at Fern Resort to update our skills and learn new games.

Nancy looks for prizes throughout the year just for the Summer BINGO games. Everyone gets to pick a prize just for participating. Everyone is a winner!

Not many Monarchs this year

Nature goes in cycles. This year I don't see very many Monarch Butterflies. The ones I do see are constantly in motion. I was very lucky to get this photo of a Monarch on a flower.

Steam Train Visit

The 3 year old twins Joshua and Abagail, went to see our Portage Flyer Steam Train today in Huntsville at Muskoka Heritage Place. Joshua is a big fan of "Thomas the Train". http://www.portageflyer.org/
