Fresh Trout for Dinner

One of our guests, Joe, is an avid fisherman. He gets up early, before the rest of us are awake, to go out fishing on Lake of Bays.
He's after Lake Trout so he has all the right equipment to get the bait down to 80 feet where the fish are.

Today he caught six trout, threw four back and kept his limit of two. Then he offered one to us for our dinner. He even cleaned and filleted it! Nancy put it in the oven to bake packed in foil, surrounded by a special sauce and spices.

If There's Loons- There must be Fish!

Deer come to Visit on Sunday Morning

Along with new guests arriving for the coming week, we also had two deer visit us at around 7 am. this morning.

Loons on the Lake

When we were out on the lake taking some of our children tubing, we came upon two loons in the water. They stayed with us for a few minutes before they swam away.

Beauview Soccer Team

Each year we sponsor a house league soccer team in Huntsville. This year its a U10 Team (under 10 years old boys and girls) They play Thursday nights. Good Family Fun to Watch!

Huntsville Festival of the Arts

Huntsville Festival of the Arts takes place daily for the next two weeks. Some of our guests have taken part in the free Art at the Docks program, went to the Jim Cuddy (Blue Rodeo) Concert and the free Music at Noon Concerts.

On Wednesday, Gord played with the Huntsville Community Band at a Music at Noon Concert. There was a standing ovation at the end. Cool!

New Muskoka Road 9 to Beauview

South Portage Road (Muskoka Road 9) was resurfaced today. This is great news for all of us that use this road. Previous guests know that the road has just been spot repaired for a number of years. Now its all brand new!

The triathletes should be very happy about the new road condition as it is a part of the bike race for the June Muskoka Triathlon and the September Muskoka Ironman.

High Speed Internet on Beauview Bay , Lake of Bays

We are not alone!!

Michel from MCCSolutions just installed an antenna tower to provide High Speed Internet service to all of Beauview Bay. This antenna will cover a part of Lake of Bays that is unserviced, (too many rocks in the way) unless you have a satellite dish.

We have had High speed internet for two years. What a difference from dial up!

Prime Minister Stephen Harper today announced the 2010 G8 Summit will be held at the Deerhurst Resort in Huntsville, Ontario. It will be the fifth G8 Summit hosted by Canada since the country joined the prestigious international organization in 1976.

The Prime Minister was joined at the announcement by Tony Clement, Canada’s Health Minister and Member of Parliament for Parry Sound-Muskoka.“Huntsville is a jewel in the Canadian Shield and an ideal location for this gathering of world leaders,” said Prime Minister Harper. “Our international guests will be charmed by the uniquely Canadian beauty of the region and by the warm hospitality of Muskokans.”

The Prime Minister emphasized the Summit will be a tremendous opportunity to promote Canada’s values and interests on the world stage; to advocate for open markets and free trade; to insist on truly global action against global warming; and to champion freedom, democracy, human rights, and the rule of law.

Prime Minister Harper added that the international media attending the Summit would introduce millions of potential tourists to the many attractions of Ontario cottage country.“The 2010 G8 Summit will provide short and long-term economic benefits for the region and the province, and it will be an exceptional opportunity for Canada to advance its values and interests on the world stage,” Prime Minister Harper concluded.

Muskoka Triathlon 2008

The Muskoka Triathlon 2008 was held in Huntsville this weekend. We had a number of

Triathletes staying with us.

As you can see, the bike route goes right past our property.

The bike route for the Muskoka Ironman coming in September 2008 starts at Deerhurst and also goes right past our driveway.

We are catching More Fish than We Can Keep!

This is no fish story! Al and the boys come every year to fish for Lake Trout on Lake of Bays.

They are out at sun up each morning. There are so many fish in the lake that they pick only the mid size ones for their fish fry. The big ones and the little ones are put back in the lake.

Our Ontario U. K. Connection

We have had several couples recently stay with us that are from the United Kingdom.

One couple from Devon said that Air Transat has direct flights from Exeter, U. K. to Toronto, Canada each week. It is much closer for them to go to Exeter than Heathrow airport and much less expensive with no expensive overnight stay in an airport hotel.

They took in the sights of Niagara Falls, Toronto and then came to the country to stay with us at Beauview.

They went canoeing, fishing, hiking in Algonquin Park, golfing, 30,000 Island Boat tour, saw a moose and deer and black squirrels! Lots to do.
