Cottage Technology

It's amazing the changes that happen in a year. We have offered WIFI for the last 3 years. In the past, a few people brought laptops to connect with family, friends or work.

This year most cottage families have brought a laptop and some have brought more than one. One for the kids and one for the adults or ...

One week there were 10 laptop computers on the property in 6 cottages. It was another activity for the kids on a rainy day. (and we had a lot in July)
Thank goodness we upgraded our WIFI system this spring in anticipation of more load. ... But we didn't expect this much!

We also offer a portable VOIP phone for our US visitors. VOIP means Voice over the Internet. It's a telephone using the internet. It saves the huge roaming and long distance charges you get calling the US from your cell phone.

69 Year Old Grandpa on Skis

Grandpa Tom showed how its done to all the younger ones. He got up water skiing on the first try and went all around the lake.

Deer at Fawn Lake Cottage

With a name like Fawn lake, you'd expect to see deer? Well our guests Kyle and Kerri were not disappointed. They saw deer on two mornings

The photo is taken from the deck of the Fawn lake cottage looking down the driveway.

As I drove over there yesterday, I saw two deer eating at the edge of the road too.

78 degrees F Water temp - Am I dreaming?

After taking the kids tubing yesterday, I checked our Lake of bays dock thermometer. It said 78 degrees F.
I even went for a swim!

In less than a week, the water has warmed up dramatically.

Some of the boys were playing a new game - ring toss using our inflatable tubes. One boy floats in the water on a tube near the water trampoline with his hands in the air. The others stand on the water trampoline and try to toss the tubes over his head. The Most tubes wins!

Great Views of the Meteor Shower in Muskoka

Many of our guests went down to the lakefront after dark to look for the Perseid meteor shower.
We weren't disappointed.

In less than an hour, I saw over a dozen meteors streak across the sky. I turned off the lake lights and gave out glow sticks so everyone could see. The children went inside at about 10:30pm. The parents were happy that we didn't have to wait until 2 in the morning to see something.

Five More Conquered Lake of Bays

Congratulations to our 5 teens that went tubing for the first time. After hearing about the drownings in Muskoka, they were a bit apprehensive about going anywhere near the water.

Well, they conquered their fears and went tubing today behind the Beauview boat. Well Done! (They each received Beauview Bob Tubing awards)

They also went kayaking and peddleboating and swimming in the lake.
