Skate or Walk on the Lake of Bays

This is a special time on the lake that doesn't happen very often. We get a melt and a refreeze with little or no snow. That means now you can skate across the lake. (It's a little bumpy in places from the snowmobiles) What a neat "bragging rights" experience!

Up until now, you couldn't walk on the lake because there was snow with slush underneath and then the ice. It would get your boots stuck! ... Not anymore!

I shovelled off a brand new ice rink next to our present one. It's nice and smooth, no cracks or bumps and pretty level.

Bring your skates!

Community Band

Our Huntsville Community Band along with a number of High School bands, were on stage last night at the Algonquin Theatre performing as part of a fund raiser for Hospice Huntsville.

Lots of musical talent in the area.

Port Sydney Winter

Port Sydney, Muskoka has a lot happening. The Winter Carnival was this weekend.
The snowmobile trail across Mary Lake is staked and open.

Ethan took us Snowtubing on the Biggest Hills

Five Year old Ethan took us on the highest hills at Rock Ridge Snowtubing Park in Huntsville, Ontario.

He always asked for the best Super Spin from the hill supervisor.

I took off to be a tourist on Wednesday afternoon... looking for deer. Guests, over the holidays had reported many deer sightings.

Snowman on Beauview Dock - Happy New Year

Here's a snowman on the Beauview dock built by Stephen and Carly. They also had a campfire down by the lake, to bring in the new year.

Even though the weather was damp, our guests still had fun outdoors in the snow.

People went skiing and snowshoeing too.

Bragging Rights

People from Australia have a lot to brag about from their visit to Canada.

I went Dog sledding in the forest.
I walked and skated on a frozen lake (and didn't fall in!)
I went snow tubing down a hill that was 14 stories high.

Holiday Week Activities

Not much snow in the GTA to play in. But we have lots in Muskoka!

This week, you can go tobogganing, skating on the lake, snowshoeing, horse drawn sleigh ride, dogsledding, snowtubing, skiing, snowboarding.

Or you can just relax after a hectic time and soak in a personal hot tub!

Our bay is frozen. I don't believe the whole lake is frozen yet... just posted a webcam picture of our ice rink.

Interactive Snowmobile Trail Conditions Map

There's a new Interactive Snowmobile trail map for Ontario and Muskoka, shows all the snowmobile trails around Beauview. (OFSC District 7)

The map is colour coded to show what trails are open, limited or closed. You can zoom in or out to look at a particular area. It also show gas, food, and accommodation.
